What actually moves your Leaderboard rank

The obvious guess at how the leaderboard works is "whoever plays the most wins," which is close but not quite it. Raw play count is only one ingredient, and on its own it's the smallest one — someone who replays a single favourite two hundred times doesn't automatically outrank someone who's actually explored the catalogue.

Three real signals, not one

Your score is built from how many different games you've played, how many times you've played in total, and how many games you've favourited — combined so that breadth counts for the most, favouriting counts for a fair amount, and sheer play count counts for the least. That ordering is deliberate: it rewards someone who actually explores what's here over someone who just leaves one tab open and racks up a number.

All-time, not a weekly reset

This isn't a rolling weekly or monthly board — it's cumulative, everything you've ever done on the site, recomputed once a day. That means a quiet account from months ago with real history still outranks a brand-new account having a very active first day, at least until that new account's history catches up. There's no reward tied to rank beyond the rank itself — this is a standing, not a payout.

You can see where you stand either way

The public list only shows the top of the board, but your own rank and stats are always visible to you even when you're well outside that visible top — the system still knows exactly where you sit, it just doesn't publish the entire list down to the bottom.

A concrete run-through

Player A has played 40 different games a handful of times each and favourited a dozen. Player B has played the same 5 games obsessively, racking up a much higher raw play count than Player A. Despite B's bigger total-plays number, A ranks higher — the breadth across 40 distinct games outweighs B's repetition on 5, even before favourites are counted. It's scoring engagement with the catalogue, not just time spent.
